Recycling FAQs
How do I recycle my old device?
There are a multitude of options available to properly recycle your old devices. If you have the know how to wipe your own device from all data, you can simply add it to your existing recycling bins (Be sure to check with your waste management centre for more information)
Alternatively, if you have a device that could be used again, we work closely with Donate IT (https://donateit.co.uk/) all you need to do is head to a local drop off point near you and it’ll be collected, data wiped and re-purposed, reducing E waste impact! More information can be found on their website.
Should I log out from my iCloud account/ Google Account?
It’s highly recommended to log out from you devices before recycling, especially with smart phones as they tend to lock out the device from having an alternative log in. Unfortunatly, Apple and Android don’t have an easy way to fully wipe data without the consent of the user currently logged into the device. Which means the device become a rather expensive paper weight.
My device is broken, can I still recycle it?
Absolutely! It’s still usable as spare parts for a majority of use cases. Even if your screen is broken, the speakers, microphone or chip modules could be extracted and reused for refurbishing devices. You can even remotely wipe devices via your Apple or Google account if the device powers on still.
Can you take devices in?
I certainly can, provided it is in a condition to be transportable, if the device is in a non usable condition, I would highly encourage you to recycle or donate it to Donate IT (https://donateit.co.uk/)
